Superhero Hype’s Best Amazon Game Deals for Aug 14

Families need to play together, and game suggestions are at hand. Be they video, board, or based on same, our guide wants to aid your fun time. In this ongoing series, Superhero Hype takes a look at some of the better deals Amazon.com has running as of publication time. Please note that all deals are subject to change or sell out at any time based on supply and demand.

Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare 2 – PlayStation 4

For the first time, the living plants get to take the fight to the zombies’ home turf in this multiplayer shootout that can handle 24-player battle royales, or four-player co-op. At $15.44, this undying classic may take root in the purchaser’s heart. Growth was always decomposition’s worst enemy, and nithing embodies that more than putting carnivorous vegetables and bug-eyed corpses in little hats and matching outfits, then arming them.

Kingdom Hearts III – Xbox One

For $15.04, it’s easy enough to ignore Olaf in this mashup of Final Fantasy and Disney. Included this time are worlds and characters from Big Hero 6, Pirates of the Caribbean, Tangled, Hercules, and the Disney parks.

Funko 34684 5 Star: Fortnite Tomatohead, Multicolor

$4.41 is insanely cheap for an action figure, and even non-Fortnite fans might cotton to this poseable tomato-head and his pizza cutter. Especially if they make and/or love Italian food. Around three inches tall, this little guy is just looking for a pizza the action. Don’t make him play ketchup.

Arcade1Up Street Fighter – Classic 3-in-1 Home Arcade, 4Ft

Okay, three in one is a bit deceptive here, just as it was in the ’90s, when Capcom refused to make Street Fighter III for the longest time. Instead, they just kept releasing minor upgrades to Street Fighter II. And here they all are in a home console that’s 25% off. Champion Edition made the four bosses playable, Super Street Fighter II added four more characters, and Super Turbo offered new color palettes and new moves. Really, this could just be Super Turbo, which boasts all the features of the prior versions and more. Nonetheless, it’s still Street Fighter II, the iconic, groundbreaking fighting game against which most others get measured. And on which that awesome Van Damme movie was based.

Star Trek: Bridge Crew – PlayStation VR

Work together, coordinate, and communicate in order to score victory in the Star Trek universe. Playable in VR or non-VR, this isn’t the Kobayashi Maru, and Kirk can’t change the program. To win, make like Gene Roddenberry and figure out how everyone will get along in the future.

Monopoly Arcade Pac-Man Game; Monopoly Board Game for Kids Ages 8 and Up; Includes Banking and Arcade Unit

Normally, themed Monopoly boards are just an excuse to market new “collectible” tokens and repackage the same game. In the case of Pac-Man Monopoly, though, the rules are different. Accumulate points instead of dollars, get chased around the board by a ghost, and when passing “Go,” play a miniature arcade game of Pac-Man to determine how many points to add. Forget red or blue pills — in this game, always take the yellow, and as often as possible.

Ravensburger Disney Villainous Strategy Board Game for Age 10 & Up

Play as Maleficent, Prince John, Captain Hook and more in a race to complete your evil schemes and traps before the other players do. Made for all skill levels, this strategy game scored a Toy of the Year award in 2019.

The Blockbuster Game: A Movie Party Game for the Whole Family

Blockbuster Video may mostly be gone, but Blockbuster the brand prevails in this Charades-like party game. Make members of the opposing team guess movies based on a quote, a single word, or a silent performance. Use a board that makes it look like you’re hanging out in the parking lot on a Saturday night! But no need to rewind or return when done. Just put everything back in the box till next time.

No Man’s Sky Beyond – PlayStation 4

The description: “No Man’s Sky is an epic science fiction adventure set across an infinite universe, in which every star is the light of a distant sun, orbited by planets filled with life – each yours to visit. Explore never before seen worlds and trade, fight and survive on a galactic scale. Fully featured VR is now available in game.”

The price? $23. Not bad for a game that’s allegedly so vast a player is never likely to meet another within its universe.

Super Mario Odyssey – Nintendo Switch

Mario explores all-new 3-D kingdoms and develops Oddjob-ish skills with an assist from his new friend Cappy. Meet familiar characters in new ways, and interact with environments that include a realistic, skyscraper-filled modern city. All for 17% off.
