Note From the Editor: This week, Superhero Hype’s special cosplay correspondent, Ashlynne Dae, is checking in with the third of three October columns. To close out the month, Ashlynne is revisiting Brian Pulido’s Lady Death. During the ’90s, Lady Death was the breakout character at Chaos Comics, and one of the top bad girls in comics. Lady Death is still hanging around in new adventures, with different outfits. But Ashlynne is going with the original costume for the woman formerly known as Hope.
Lady Death is yet another favorite gothic dream girl of mine. Pale, mysterious, big hair, clad all in black, and carrying a big effin’ sword or sickle. Or both. What’s not to love about her?

I made a sickle and have a sword, but I didn’t get to use the sword for the shoot. Maybe for my next incarnation of Lady Death? Whenever that may be!

I also reused my cape and my gloves from my Goblin Queen cosplay. I am a firm believer that if you can recycle costume pieces you should.

It helps cut down on spending costs because fabric is expensive. But it also saves that much more in environmental cost due to not having to manufacture more material. So recycle when you can!

If you have a black bikini, all you need is some gold skulls and a cape for a pretty easy Lady Death costume.

Top it off with a white wig, and if you can stand it, some white out contacts. I am already blind as a bat, so being even more blind for this shoot wasn’t that strange to me!
