Matt Murdock has always prided himself upon his strict moral code. As the Man Without Fear, he refused to take a life or to allow his enemies to die through his inaction. However, Matt breaks this rule in Daredevil #19 without feeling any guilt, save perhaps the guilt that he felt no remorse for what he had done.

The current volume of Daredevil has centered around Matt Murdock fighting the demons born of his sins. These demons manifested on Earth, attaching themselves to important figures in Matt’s life. His Greed, for instance, possessed Wilson Fisk.

Daredevil managed to banish all the demons, except for Wrath. The most powerful of the seven demons, it had attached himself to a young orphan that blamed Daredevil for the death of his father. This led to a sadistic choice when Matt faced his own righteous fury personified.

What Marvel villain did Daredevil kill?

The Wrath demon abducted both Matt Murdock’s former law partner Foggy Nelson and the supervillain Bullseye, then dropped both men off of a high building. This forced Daredevil to decide who he should focus on saving: his best friend, or his worst enemy.

For Daredevil, however, there was no choice. While he threw Bullseye a line, he moved to catch Foggy Nelson and swing him to safety. The impat killed Bullseye and the Wrath demon dissipated, its goal achieved. It wanted Matt Murdock to damn himself by playing judge, jury, and executioner.

While it could be argued Daredevil is not culpable for the actions of a demon, Matt blamed himself regardless. The Wrath demon was born of his sins, ergo it was his sin that killed Bullseye. However, what truly disturbed Matt was that he didn’t feel any guilt over the choice. “If I was truly a man of God, I would agonize over my decision,” Matt thought. “But I’ve never felt more like a devil.”
