Each member of the Fantastic Four is powerful, but Invisible Woman is by far the strongest. In terms of both energy output and sheer versatility, Sue Storm is the most dangerous member of Marvel Comics‘ First Family. This is exemplified by how she develops her base abilities into an entirely new superpower in Godzilla vs. Fantastic Four #1.

Written by Ryan North, with art by John Romita Jr., Scott Hanna, and Marcio Menyz, Godzilla vs. Fantastic Four opens with the conflict promised by the title. It takes all the team, and Invisible Woman has to survive one blast of Godzilla’s radioactive breath. However, the First Family of Marvel quickly deduces that Godzilla is not their real enemy. Indeed, the King of the Monsters was awakened by the return of his old enemy, King Ghidorah.

Unfortunately, King Ghidorah was imbued with the Power Cosmic by Galactus. The Silver Surfer sensed the approach of the cosmic kaiju and concluded that his power was not enough to protect the Earth from his former master’s new herald. Unfortunately, neither was his power bequeathed to the already enraged Godzilla. This led Invisible Woman to suggest a bold plan that would push her superpowers to their limits.
How does Invisible Woman use her new superpower to help Godzilla?
Sue Storm’s power to make herself and other objects invisible is not based around her altering their opacity. Rather, Invisible Woman makes things invisible by bending the light around them. This creates the optical illusion that nothing is there in the space she targets.
Given that, Sue proposes that she should be able to bend light in other ways. Specifically, Sue suggests using her superpowers to shift the image of something so it seems to be somewhere else. She also suggests that she could make something seem bigger than it is, using the same principles behind a projector.

Ultimately, Invisible Woman uses her powers to create a giant-size hologram of The Thing. This distracts King Ghidorah long enough for Godzilla to rally for one cosmic-powered radiation blast and win the day. While this use of her powers pushes her to her limits and beyond, it also proves that Sue Storm’s abilities go far beyond hiding and making force fields.
