Marvel Comics has a proud tradition of amazing superheroes. Sometimes they are introduced with little fanfare, wall-crawling to prominence in the final issue of a soon-to-be-cancelled series. Such was the case with Spider-Man in Amazing Fantasy #15. Other times, they are introduced with a good deal of hype and mystery.
Such is the case with one new character, who is so mysterious we know almost nothing about them. Nothing has been revealed regarding their name, powers, or costume. Indeed, all we know is they will “change the future of Marvel Comics.”
New Spider-Man character will be introduced in special
The new character will be introduced this summer in Giant-Size Amazing Spider-Man #1. Their premiere story will feature the Wall-Crawling Web-Head. The story will be written by Chip Zdarsky and feature art by Cafu. Beyond that, there is nothing beyond Spider-Editor Nick Lowe’s assurance they are “the coolest new Marvel character in recent memory!”
Whoever this new character is, they will be in good company besides Spider-Man. The special also marks the return of filmmaker Kevin Smith to Marvel Comics after over 20 years. He will be partnering with artist Giuseppe Camuncoli on a Spider-Man and Fantastic Four team-up. The special will also include a comic by Al Ewing and Mark Buckingham, which delves into the history of Spidey and his amazing friends.
“Everyone always says Giant-Size X-Men this, Giant-Size X-Men that,” Lowe added. “And I’m sick of it, so we put together the best and coolest Giant-Size book ever.”
In addition to the top-notch creative team, Giant-Size Amazing Spider-Man #1 will also feature an amazing cover. Crafted by legendary artist Greg Capullo, the main cover (featuring Spidey and the Fantastic Four among other heroes) can be viewed in full below.

Giant-Size Amazing Spider-Man #1 arrives in comic shops everywhere on June 11, 2025.
