This July, a new era begins for the First Family of Marvel Comics. The monthly Fantastic Four comic will restart, with a new #1 issue offering new readers a perfect starting point. This is timed to coincide with the release of Marvel Studios‘ The Fantastic Four: First Steps movie.
Ryan North, the current writer on the Fantastic Four comic, will also write the renumbered series. North has been writing the team’s adventures for several years and is the author of Marvel’s 2025 One World Under Doom crossover event. North is joined by artist Humberto Ramos. Ramos is a Marvel Comics veteran most recently employed on the Spider-Boy series.
New Fantastic Four explores “worlds unknown”
The new series will test the team as never before, with adventures spanning the whole of space, time, and reality. The opening arc will find the team facing Doctor Doom, only to wind up scattered across different eras of Earth’s history. The Four must struggle to survive alone, with their only hope of rescue being the Forever Stone. This mass of granite holds the key to the heroes’ homecoming, although even they will have a hard time reaching it.
“People often think of the Fantastic Four in terms of family, and they’re not wrong,” North shared with The Hollywood Reporter. “But I think there’s something really beautiful about friendship too. And we get to see that with these characters. It’s high-concept science fiction with real emotion. What’s not to like?”
“I’ve been lucky to illustrate many of the most iconic superheroes in the universe,” shared Ramos. “But this book felt different from the start. The weight of history and legacy of these characters lay upon your shoulders, no matter who you are or how you’ve worked in this industry.”
Fantastic Four #1 arrives in comic shops everywhere in July 2025.
