Now, thanks to Free League and Skybound, gamers will be able to enter that world in Invincible – Superhero Roleplaying.

Written by Robert Kirkman with art by Cory Walker and Ryan Ottley, Invincible was originally published across 144 issues by Image Comics. The coming-of-age comic centers around Mark Grayson as he grows to manhood after developing superpowers. It was later adapted into a hit animated series for Amazon Prime.

Invincible – Superhero Roleplaying boasts impressive creative team

Free League Publishing and Skybound Entertainment confirmed a a world class creative team for the upcoming game. It e game will be designed by Adam Bradford and Tomas Härenstam. Bradford was the founder of D&D Beyond and a producer on the Marvel Multiverse RPG. Härenstam is the co-founder of Free League and the lead designer of the RPG adaptations of Alien and Blade Runner. The game will be based on Free League’s Year Zero Engine.

“Invincible is my favorite comic series, and I’ve wanted to play in this universe for many years,” said Bradford. “The way the story unfolds in a sprawling saga over the course of 144 issues – without endless retconning – lends itself particularly well to tabletop roleplaying. I can’t wait for fans to experience their own superhero stories with the game,”

“One of my very first tabletop roleplaying games was the old Marvel Superheroes by TSR,” added Härenstam. “Making a superhero RPG has been a lifelong dream. I think the genre, and Invincible’s more grounded and visceral take on it, is a great fit for the Year Zero Engine game mechanics.”

Invincible – Superhero Roleplaying will have a Kickstarter drive in late 2025. Fans can sign up now to be notified when the campaign begins. The initial offering will include a comprehensive Core Rulebook and Starter Set. The books will feature illustrations by Cory Walker and Ryan Ottley and graphic design by Johan Nohr of MÖRK BORG fame.
