Early in December 2024, Marvel and Toho announced a momentous miniseries; Godzilla vs. Marvel Comics. The companies confirmed the King of All Monsters would appear in six specials in 2025, facing different superheroes at different points in time. Now, new details have been revealed about the first chapter of this crossover, Godzilla vs. Fantastic Four #1.
Written by Ryan North, with art by John Romita Jr. Godzilla vs. Fantastic Four #1 will see Marvel’s First Family facing a threat unlike any other. The story finds the kaiju King Ghidorah coming to Earth. This would be bad enough, but the long-time rival of the King of All Monsters is also imbued with the Power Cosmic.
It seems that Galactus, Devourer of Worlds, has chosen King Ghidorah as his newest herald. This leads to an unlikely team-up as Godzilla and the Silver Surfer join forces against their mutual enemy. However, this leaves the Fantastic Four trying to contain the battle before it destroys New York and the entire Earth.
“The 1970s Godzilla: King of the Monsters series by Marvel was 100% out-of-control comic book fun,” noted editor Mark Paniccia. “The creative teams approached these one-shots with that same wildly imaginative spirit. I guarantee you’ll see things you never thought possible with Godzilla or Marvel!”
