Anything is possible in an infinite multiverse, including worlds undreamed of where fictional characters developed and merged in unexpected ways. That idea is exemplified in a new What If…? comic special, where Mickey Mouse and his friends become The Avengers.
Marvel & Disney: What If…? Mickey & Friends became The Avengers #1 mashes up the beloved Disney characters with Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. In this reality, Mickey Mouse is Iron Man, Donald Duck is Thor, and Goofy is The Incredible Hulk. However, the strangest mash-up of all is Minnie Mouse and Pluto as The Wasp and Ant-Man.
The special will be written by Luca Barbieri and Steve Behling. The art and main cover will be provided by Alessandro Pastrovicchio. Additionally, the Avengers special will receive variant covers by Dan Jurgens, Adam Kubert, and Phil Noto.

Avengers latest team to get Disney makeover
Marvel & Disney: What If…? Mickey & Friends became The Avengers #1 is the latest special born of Disney and Marvel’s partnership. Despite owning Marvel since late 2009, Disney did not utilize the publisher to create comics based on their characters until June 2024. Since then, Marvel has produced several What If…? specials depicting different Disney characters as various Marvel heroes. Most of these were light-hearted take-offs of the Marvel characters’ classic origin stories.
Marvel & Disney: What If…? Mickey & Friends became The Avengers #1 will continue in the same vein. The plot will find Gladstone-Loki (aka Donald Duck’s annoying cousin Gladstone Gander) spreading mischief with some kind of “cake monster.” This unlikely event will assemble the mightiest heroes of this Earth into a team ready to save the day.
Marvel & Disney: What If…? Mickey & Friends became The Avengers #1 arrives in comic shops everywhere on March 5, 2025.
