Ben Grimm is best known as the Ever-Lovin’ Blue-Eyed Thing of the Fantastic Four. However, a new miniseries will see the ace pilot flying solo. He will also be fighting some villains he has never faced before, introducing them to the meaning of the words “It’s Clobberin’ Time!”
The new miniseries will be written by Tony Fleecs, who recently made his Marvel Comics debut with Venom War: Wolverine. The artwork will be provided by Leonard Kirk, who previously worked on the monthly Fantastic Four title. Kirk described himself as “thrilled as punch (pun intended)” to once again be working with The Thing. Fleecs is similarly enthusiastic.
“What I love about Ben Grimm is that he’s just a regular hardworking guy–who happens to have super powers,” Fleecs shared. “He’s Jack Kirby. He’s not easily impressed by all of the outlandish, cosmic stuff constantly going on around him. The fun thing about this book is trying to figure out– ‘okay, then what WOULD surprise the Thing? What WOULD catch him off guard?'”
The Thing miniseries pits Ben Grimm against Marvel Universe
Ben Grimm is now one of the strongest and best-loved heroes in the Marvel Universe. Yet once upon a time, he was a skinny loner from Yancy Street. Life on the streets toughened him up, yet he still retains a soft spot for his old neighborhood and children in need.

This sends the Thing on a quest to find a missing child, after an unexpected figure from his past asks for his help. This, in turn, leads to a mystery that has Ben Grimm declared a criminal. Soon every superpowered bounty hunter and villain with a grudge is on Ben’s trail and chasing him around Manhattan. But Aunt Petunia’s favorite nephew won’t go without a fight.
The Thing #1 arrives in comic shops everywhere on March 5, 2025.
