Free Comic Book Day allows comic publishers a chance to tease upcoming events and promote popular existing series. Dynamite Entertainment will be doing both with their 2025 line up, featuring three classic animated series: Powerpuff Girls, Gargoyles, and ThunderCats.
The survivors of Thundera will team up with Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup in Thundercats/Powerpuff Girls #0. Written by Paulina Ganucheau, with art by Coleman Engle, the special will find the sisters transported to Third Earth. Luckily, someone named Snarf is there to explain where they are following a fight with Mojo Jojo. Unfortunately, there’s little they can do to help fight the evil of Mumm-Ra when the trip leaves them powerless.

Free Comic Book Day to premiere Gargoyles: Demona #0
Dynamite Entertainment’s second Free Comic Book Day offering is more serious. Written by Gargoyles creator Greg Wiesman, Gargoyles: Demona #0 kicks off a new storyline exploring the history of the infamous villain. It will feature art by Frank Paur and a cover, pictured in full below, by Meghan Hetrick.
For a thousand years, while the heroic Gargoyles slept, their nemesis Demona has been wide awake, scheming and plotting her revenge against humanity for destroying her kind. Although Goliath and his clan of Gargoyles will do everything they can to protect their adopted New York City, they are not prepared for the lengths to which Demona will go in order to enact her twisted plan for justice. Nor are they prepared for how large a part they themselves will play in carrying it out. The tale begins on Free Comic Book Day before continuing in a new monthly miniseries.
Free Comic Book Day 2025 will be held on May 3, 2025.
