He is the Terror That Flaps In The Night! He is Darkwing Duck and he is back in a new ongoing comic book series from Dynamite Entertainment. And he is not alone, as his creator Tad Stones is along for the ride this time.
“I was delighted with Dynamite bringing Darkwing Duck and family back to comics with three, count them three, titles featuring his super pals and his ultimate nemesis,” noted Stones. “And then they dragged me into the craziness for a bunch of variant covers on this new series. The stories and art I’ve seen have captured the comedy and adventure of the original series while bringing a fresh take on it all.”
New Darkwing Duck series has dangerous creative team
Apart from Stones’ variant cover contributions, the new Darkwing Duck series boasts an impressive creative team. Fan favorite writer Daniel Kibblesmith, best known for his work on various Marvel titles like Loki, will handle the scripts. The interior art will be provided by the team of Ted Brandt and Ro Stein.

The new series will reportedly offer a fun but informative take on Darkwing Duck’s past. The character famously has several conflicting origin stories from the original cartoon. This prompts his adopted daughter Gosalyn to start asking questions regarding exactly how Drake Mallard became a costumed crimefighter. Naturally, the hero is more than willing to recall the highlights of his early days but is prone to embellishment. An unreliable narrator is better than no narrator at all, but some of his claims will go beyond belief.
Darkwing Duck #1 arrives in comic shops everywhere in February 2025.
