A Quiet Place, Smile, & More Paramount Horror Titles Getting Comics From IDW Dark

IDW Publishing is famed for their adaptations of various beloved properties. Chief among these are the comics based on Paramount properties like Star Trek and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The publisher is branching out, however, with a new horror focused line called IDW Dark. This imprint will produce new original horror series, as well as comics based on Smile, A Quiet Place, and other Paramount Pictures.

The new IDW Dark line was announced at New York Comic Con 2024. The announcement was well-timed and appropriate, given the approach of Halloween. Beyond affirming the extension of their partnership with Paramount, IDW confirmed two upcoming horror series to kick off the new line. The first is a sequel to the vampire horror story 30 Days of Night, subtitled “Falling Sun.” The second is Rite of Spring, a follow-up to the Eisner Award-winning Beneath the Trees Where Nobody Sees.

“Horror is everywhere today, in the world and on the shelves, declared IDW Group Editor Maggie Howell. “So, what sets IDW Dark apart? Horror is in our blood. This imprint is our way of doubling down on the work the company has been doing throughout our 25-year history as a premier publisher of horror comics.”

What Paramount Properties are getting IDW Dark comics?

Beyond the aforementioned sequels, IDW Dark will continue to produce more independent works. However, the imprint will be heavily leaning into the publisher’s partnership with Paramount to start. This will lead to comics based on a number of Paramount Pictures and Paramount Television series.

Comics based on Smile, A Quiet Place, The Twilight Zone, Sleepy Hollow, and Event Horizon are apparently in the works. However, there is no word on if these comics will be regular series, miniseries, or one-shot specials. Horror fans can expect to hear more details regarding the IDW Dark line in 2025.
