In contrast to Absolute Batman, relatively little has been revealed about the new Absolute Wonder Woman series. Virtually all that is known is this version of Princess Diana was literally raised in Hell. The first preview of the new series speaks to this, revealing the sensational way this Wonder Woman came to Man’s World alongside infernal forces.
Written by Kelly Thompson with art by Hayden Sherman, Absolute Wonder Woman #1 opens in Gateway City. An idyllic day is broken by the sudden appearance of an inverted mountain floating in midair and a horde of flying demons. Also emerging from this is our hero riding a skeletal Pegasus, ready to defend the city.

Absolute Wonder Woman is last of her Earth’s Amazons
The core idea of the new Absolute Universe is to change several key circumstances of DC Comics‘ greatest characters to reveal their fundamental core. Absolute Batman, for instance, centers around a Batman who is not rich and who still has one surviving parent. Absolute Wonder Woman is likewise built around the idea of a Diana raised apart from Amazon society.
Why this should happen will be a core mystery of the new series. However, it has been confirmed that Diana is the last of the Amazons on this Earth and will be its first publicly operating superhero. Both of these changes represent a major shift in the new Absolute Universe.
Another notable change is that this version of Diana is more witch than warrior. While generally portrayed as knowledgeable about magic and the divine, she is not typically a spell-caster. The new Wonder Woman, by contrast, is shown to know how to “conjure the darkest of magicks.”
Absolute Wonder Woman #1 arrives in comic shops everywhere on October 23, 2024.
