The status quo of Marvel Comics shifted in 2024, with Doctor Doom taking over the office of Sorcerer Supreme. Now he seeks to go one step further, and take over the entire Earth. This shall come to pass across the whole Marvel line in 2025, but it will all begin with a new series, Rise of Emperor Doom.
The new series was announced at New York Comic Con 2024. Editor in Chief C.B. Cebulski, VP & Executive Editor Tom Brevoort, and Fantastic Four writer Ryan North revealed the scope of the upcoming event. One World Under Doom will take over the whole of Marvel Comics in a way unseen since the 2018 Dark Reign event.
“One World Under Doom sees Doctor Doom coming out of Latveria, and overnight, taking over the world,” North explains “He gets to show the world that he’s the greatest at what he does. And that might not be great for people not named Victor Von Doom.”
Rise of Emperor Doom kicks off One World Under Doom event
The curtain rises six months after the Blood Hunt event, where Doctor Strange surrendered the mantle of Sorcerer Supreme and Doctor Doom vanished within the boundaries of Latveria. For most, there’s enough going on in the world that the sudden disappearance is not a priority. Only a few recognize it for what it truly is: the calm before the storm. It is a storm that arrives in the form of a broadcast, released for the purpose of Doom declaring himself Emperor of the Earth.
Impossibly, all of Earth’s leaders seem to accept this. Luckily, whatever’s affecting them hasn’t touched Earth’s heroes. But can they hope to oppose him? And what happens when most begin clamoring for the Rise of Emperor Doom?

The Rise of Emperor Doom #1 arrives in comic shops everywhere on February 12, 2025. It will be written by Ryan North, with art by R.B, Silva. The main cover, seen above, was painted by Ben Harvey.
