The man called Logan belongs to many worlds. Across his long life, he has been a warrior, a soldier, a beast, a killer, and a hero. Now, unsure of his place in the world, he has returned to familiar territory to escape his thoughts. Unfortunately, as a preview for Wolverine #1 reveals, he has been followed by more bad memories.
Written by Saladin Ahmed, with art by Martín Cóccolo, Wolverine #1 finds Logan in a time of transition. He was first seen in the From the Ashes era in X-Men #1, where he refused to join Cyclops‘ new team in Alaska. He then emerged in Mexico in Uncanny X-Men #1, where he joined Gambit and Rogue in fighting a dragon. This solo series is set in the time between, with Logan getting back to nature before returning to his friends. Unfortunately, this leaves him open to an attack by his enemies.

New Wolverine series focus on Logan’s inner conflict
As Wolverine #1 opens, Logan is fully given over to the beast within. However, while he is famed for his berserker rage, Logan is far more than an animal. He is also a soldier, and has never walked away from showing why he’s the best there is at what he does. Even if what he does isn’t very nice.

“When I was a kid, Wolverine was the coolest character in comics,” Ahmed shared. “That hasn’t changed a whole lot for me, so when Marvel approached me about a new solo Logan book, it was an instant “Yes.”
“Logan is simultaneously a mythic hero, an abused animal, and a man of flesh, blood, and adamantium,” he continued. “Our story is about what happens when these parts of him all pull in opposite directions – and threaten to rip Logan to pieces that won’t come back together again.”
Wolverine #1 arrives in comic shops everywhere on September 11, 2024.
