Wonder Woman #11 Preview Reveals 1 Circumstance Where Diana Will Lie

Diana of Themyscira is known for her honesty. Indeed, at one point she was the Olympian goddess of Truth. However, a preview for Wonder Woman #11 reveals there is one situation where the Amazon princess will tell a lie.

Written by Tom King, with art by Tony Daniel, Wonder Woman #11 ties into the Absolute Power event. Faced with an army of Amazo droids that can steal superpowers, Diana and her Justice League Dark allies decide to lay low. Unfortunately, the new breed of Amazon are adept trackers. Soon the heroes, who are playing cards in a hotel room, are engaged in a fight for their lives.

Wonder Woman will lie in a game based on bluffing

The scene before the Amazo droid attack finds Diana and her allies playing a card game called Go Fish. This game is notable as being one of the few card games traditionally based around the total honesty of all players. When a player is asked if they have a particular card, they must answer honestly or tell the questioner to “go fish.” However, there are variants of Go Fish where bluffing is allowed.

Based on the dialogue in Wonder Woman #11, it would seem that Justice League Dark is playing such a variant. The game comes to a halt as they discuss whom is more trustworthy; The Spectre host Jim Corrigan or John Constantine. Amusingly, more heroes trust the noted warlock and conman more than the embodiment of God’s wrath. However, another equally amusing point is that the usually honest Diana has agreed to play a game based on lying to her friends.

Wonder Woman #11 arrives in comic shops everywhere on July 17, 2024.
