New Sentinels Team to Face X-Men in October

A new age dawns for the Mutants of Marvel this October as the X-Men rise From the Ashes. This leads to a new breed of killing machines, with Sentinels that are equal part man and machine. Enhanced by the same technology behind the original Mutant-hunters, these cyborg soldiers are charged with capturing the most dangerous Evil Mutants on Earth.

This new team of Sentinels will headline a five-issue miniseries. The new series is scripted by Red Goblin writer Alex Paknadel. The artwork is provided by Spider-Punk artist Justin Mason.

“As an X-fan going back to my first set of teeth, I couldn’t be prouder or more excited to share Sentinels with the fans,” Paknadel shared. “This book is about flawed human beings doing a dirty job for a dirty cause. Justin Mason and I are determined to make you care about each and every one of them. Whatever your expectations are going in, I promise this book will surprise you.”

Who is on the new Sentinels team?

The original Sentinels were the product of human supremacy and fear. The new team draws off the same technology but is under the control of Mutantkind. Specifically, the team is overseen by Lawrence Trask, whose mutant powers give him apocalyptic visions of the future. This leads him to use the technology of his family to target the villains responsible before his dreams become reality.

The core team consists of four soldiers. All are new characters, born of earlier superhero conflicts. Sawtooth was apparently shaped by the events of Secret Empire. Lockstep was a survivor of the Death of Doctor Strange. Drumfire was involved in the battles with Onslaught and the King in Black. Finally, Voirod, apparently came into being during World War Hulk.

Sentinels #1 arrives in comic shops everywhere on October 9, 2024.
