The cosmology of the DC Universe is complex and ever-changing. Over time it has gone from being a multiverse to a universe and back again. However, a story in DC Pride 2024 confirms a link between two dimensions previously presumed to be separate places.
“Phantom Rodeo,” by Calvin Kasulke and Len Gogou ties into the current storyline in the monthly The Flash comic. The DC Pride 2024 story finds Jay Garrick seeking out Circuit Breaker, a newbie superhero who taps the Still Force that counters the Speed Force. Chased by a creature that feeds on the Speed Force, Jay hopes to use Circuit Breaker’s powers to stabilize his own erratic abilities. This should help Jay jump dimensions, which seems to happen whenever a speedster encounters Circuit Breaker’s powers.
However, the plan goes awry. Instead of Jay Garrick jumping into another dimension, Circuit Breaker and the creature are teleported into another world. Thankfully, Circuit Breaker’s powers seem to be enhanced in this new environment. Not only is he able to defeat the entity, but he easily opens a way back to Earth-Prime.
DC Prime 2024 Links Still Force and Phantom Zone
Circuit Breaker is utterly confused upon his return home. He tells Jay Garrick of the barren landscape he saw and how it enhanced his powers. He also describes the odd clothing of the denizens of that dimension, who seemed to be angry about his presence. Based on this description, Jay concludes that Circuit Breaker sent himself to the Phantom Zone. He further hypothesizes that the Phantom Zone is a physical manifestation of the Still Force.
The discussion of the battle leads to another theory as the heroes consider why the entity stopped chasing Jay Garrick to attack Circuit Breaker. They speculate that perhaps the Still Force and the Speed Force are the same energy accessed differently. The DC Pride 2024 story concludes with a note that the adventure will continue in The Flash #10.
