Exclusive The Man From Maybe Excerpt Fuses Westerns and Post-Apocalyptic Action

The Western and the Post-Apocalypse Adventure have always had a degree of genre overlap. Both explore the divide between civilization and savagery in harsh environments. Too, the heroes are often lone wanderers, delivering a peace they will never know themselves. Both genres lie at the heart of The Man From Maybe, a new graphic novel by Oni Press.

In the dry and dead future that’s coming soon, all life belongs to Oppenheimer-obsessed billionaire Harvard Denny. The corporate scavengers in his employ pillage the wastelands in search of atomic contraband. But when a hyper-advanced vessel of possibly alien origin crashes on the outer edge of Denny’s empire of neon-lit ruins, will it bring promise or poison to a distorted world?

As the race to acquire the ship’s cargo begins, our fate will be decided by a masked bandit and the cold iron of his laser rifle. He knows no name, no home, and no surrender. Only the whispered hush of those in need who dare call him… THE MAN FROM MAYBE!

The Man From Maybe Creative Team Explored

Jordan Thomas is the author of The Man From Maybe. Born in the South of England, he currently lives in Valencia, Spain. His first published work, Frank at Home, was a farm-based horror story set in the 1920s. He also wrote the sci-fi crime story Weird Work for Image Comics.

The artwork of The Man From Maybe is provided by independent artist Shaky Kane. A fixture among small press British comics since the 1980s, Kane worked extensively on Judge Dredd Magazine and 2000 AD. American audiences are probably most familiar with Kane’s work with David Hine on Image Comics’ Bulletproof Coffin.

The Man From Maybe is now available at comic shops everywhere.
