2024 is shaping up to be a big year for Storm. First, Ororo Munroe was confirmed as the latest recruit to Earth’s Mightiest Heroes in The Avengers comic. Now, the weather-controlling Mutant will soar into her own solo series, as part of the X-Men From the Ashes revival.
The new series will be written by Murewa Ayodele, who made their Marvel debut last year on Moon Knight: Black, White and Blood. The art will be provided by Lucas Werneck, most recently seen on Immortal X-Men and Sins of Sinister. Werneck has also designed a new costume for Ororo, which will premiere as part of the series.
Werneck’s design sheet and Mateus Manhanini‘s cover for Storm #1 can be viewed below.
Storm #1 Places Ororo Munroe in a New Role
Ororo Munoe has played many parts in her life. She’s been a thief, a goddess, a queen, and a hero. However, the fall of Krakoa has forced her to take on a more active role. Working out of a new sanctuary in Atlanta, Storm will be operating as a more public figure than she has as an X-Man.
Murewa Ayodele promises that the new series will test Storm like never before. ” When you’re an Omega-level mutant, few things can test your limits, and even fewer things can shatter those limits,” Ayodele notes. “Prepare yourselves for an extraordinary display of superheroism that leaves knuckles bloody, knees bashed in, and mountains cratered.”
“I still can’t believe that Marvel gave me this gift,” Lucas Werneck added. “Storm is a character that I love, and I have so much respect for what this character represents to people. We’re working with so much love and devotion on this project, and I hope that fans enjoy it as much as we’re enjoying making it.”
Storm #1 arrives in comic book stores everywhere on October 2, 2024.
