Marvel Comics has announced Strange Academy: Blood Hunt — a three-issue limited series pitting the sorcerers of tomorrow against the vampire scourge.
Written by Daniel José Older and illustrated by Luigi Zagaria, Strange Academy: Blood Hunt launches this May as part of the larger Blood Hunt event. According to Marvel, the tie-in limited series sends the young sorcerers of Strange Academy on a quest to find the Darkhold so they can use it to destroy the vampires invading the Marvel Universe. Of course, this is easier said than done.

What is Strange Academy: Blood Hunt about?
A synopsis for the first issue of Older and Zagaria’s Blood Hunt tie-in series reads as follows: “The vampire onslaught of BLOOD HUNT knows no bounds, reaching all the way down to New Orleans, Louisiana, home of the Strange Academy! Doyle Dormammu, Zoe Laveau, Shaylee Moonpeddle, Germán Aguilar, and Toth get embroiled in an adventure that will take them around the Marvel Universe and right into the center of the BLOOD HUNT action! Their mission: find the ancient Darkhold and cast the spell that will destroy all vampires. There’s just one problem … Agatha Harkness boldly transformed the Darkhold into a child in last year’s CONTEST OF CHAOS!”

Marvel’s stacked lineup of Blood Hunt tie-ins
The main story of Blood Hunt will unfold in a five-issue limited series by Jed MacKay and Pepe Larraz — which launches Wednesday, May 1. However, the vampire-centric saga will also play out in a number of tie-in comics.
Strange Academy: Blood Hunt is sixth tie-in limited series Marvel has announced — following Black Panther: Blood Hunt (launching May 29), Union Jack the Ripper: Blood Hunt (launching May 15), Blood Hunters (launching May 8, the same day as Strange Academy), Dracula: Blood Hunt (also launching May 8), and Midnight Sons: Blood Hunt (launching May 29).
In total, Marvel is planning eight tie-in limited series — meaning there are still two to be announced. The publisher is also planning six one-shots (four of which are directly connected) and several tie-in issues of existing series.
