Skybound Entertainment and Image Comics have shared a first look inside Sea Serpent’s Heir Book Three: Queen of Mercy — the final entry in Mairghread Scott and Pablo Tuica’s trilogy of Sea Serpent’s Heir fantasy graphic novels.
Sea Serpent’s Heir Book Three: Queen of Mercy arrives in bookstores on Tuesday, June 4 (and in comic shops on Wednesday, June 5). Published under the Skybound Comet imprint, the concluding chapter of Scott and Tuica’s pirate-themed adventure is aimed at young-adult and middle-grade readers. At this time, Skybound has revealed 12 fully-lettered interior pages from the book, offering an extended sneak peek at how the story will wrap up.

What is Sea Serpent’s Heir Book Three: Queen of Mercy about?
An official synopsis for Scott and Tuica’s trilogy capper reads as follows: “In the final chapter of the Sea Serpent’s Heir Trilogy, the hunter becomes the hunted after Aella’s aunt Kiana steals the power of Xir for themselves! Can Aella stop the person who taught her everything she knows about magic from destroying the world?”
The Sea Serpent’s Heir trilogy began in 2022 with Book One: Pirate’s Daughter. The second entry, Sea Serpent’s Heir Book Two: Black Wave, followed suit in 2023. The graphic novel series centers on Aella, a young girl who discovers she is the reincarnation of Xir — an ancient sea serpent destined to destroy the world. Aella soon sets sail with her mother’s old pirate crew, determined to learn the truth about who she is and where she comes from. Along the way, she begins to embrace her inner darkness.
Sea Serpent’s Heir Book Three: Queen of Mercy goes on sale in June 2024 from Image Comics.
