Marvel Comics has released a first-look preview for Ms. Marvel: Mutant Menace #1 by Iman Vellani, Sabir Pirzada, and Scott Godlewski.
Ms. Marvel: Mutant Menace launches early next month. The four-issue limited series serves as a sequel to Vellani and Pirzada’s Ms. Marvel: The New Mutant, which saw Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel become a full-fledged member of the X-Men. Mutant Menace #1 features a main cover by The New Mutant artist Carlos Gómez. At this time, Marvel has also shared a number of unlettered preview pages from the issue, in which Kamala returns to Jersey City — though with anti-mutant sentiment still running rampant, it’s not exactly the homecoming she expected. Fortunately, the former Champion has the likes of Wolverine, Deadpool, Rogue, Psylocke, and Monet in her corner.

What to expect from Ms. Marvel: Mutant Menace
An official synopsis for Mutant Menace #1 reads as follows: “HATED AND FEARED! Ms. Marvel has officially come out to the world as a mutant and a member of the X-Men … and she’s about to learn just how hard things can get for mutantkind! Kamala Khan is used to being a hometown hero — there’s no way her community would turn on her just because she’s a mutant, right? …Right??”
The new series marks the latest comic-book outing for Vellani, who plays Kamala Khan in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Vellani starred in the Disney+ original series Ms. Marvel, which was the first project to hint at the young hero actually being a mutant. The actor subsequently reprised her role in the Marvel Studios feature film The Marvels, which all but confirmed that Kamala would assemble a team of Young Avengers in the MCU.
“It’s been an absolute joy and privilege to get to co-write Ms. Marvel with Iman Vellani, who has proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that she is THE voice of Ms. Marvel on the page just as much as she is on the screen,” co-writer Pirzada said. “We are excited to report that Kamala’s mutant journey will continue on in MS. MARVEL: MUTANT MENACE. It will be Kamala’s most dangerous ride yet.”
Ms. Marvel: Mutant Menace #1 goes on sale Wednesday, March 6 from Marvel Comics.
