The issue features a main cover by Reilly, as well as variant covers by Declan Shalvey, Tyler Boss with Jason Wordie, Priscilla Petraites with Frank Martin, and Karl Kerschl. An official synopsis for Duke #3 reads as follows: “Codename: G.I. JOE continues! Duke’s search for answers has led him to a classified holding site for the America’s most dangerous prisoners including the enigmatic Baroness. Now he’s the most wanted man in the world. Unfortunately, everyone seems to prefer him DEAD over ALIVE.”

Duke brought G.I. Joe to the Energon Universe

Duke launched back in December as the first of four limited series that serve to introduce G.I. Joe characters to Skybound and Image‘s Energon Universe. The series is currently running concurrently with Cobra Commander, which itself launched in January. Skybound has yet to formally unveil the remaining two G.I. Joe series.

Nevertheless, the Energon Universe already includes two other key series: fellow Hasbro-licensed title Transformers and the Skybound-original Void Rivals. Skybound, Image, and Hasbro recently dropped a trailer for the second wave of the Energon Universe, teasing major developments still to come.

Duke #3 goes on sale Wednesday, February 28 from Image Comics.
