Creepshow: Joe Hill’s Wolverton Station #1 Preview Teases Lycanthropic Locomotion

Skybound Entertainment has shared a new look inside the upcoming one-shot Creepshow: Joe Hill’s Wolverton Station.

Creepshow: Joe Hill’s Wolverton Station #1 arrives in comic shops in mid-February — about a month and a half earlier than originally announced. The one-shot adapts author Joe Hill‘s 2011 short story “Wolverton Station.” Hill — the son of legendary horror author Stephen King — teams with with co-writer Jason Ciaramella and artist Michael Walsh to bring the werewolf-centric tale to comic form. Walsh provides the comic’s main cover art, while Gabriel Rodriguez and Maria Wolf provide variant covers. At this time, Skybound has revealed three new, fully-lettered preview pages.

What is Creepshow: Joe Hill’s Wolverton Station about?

“Creepshow alum and New York Times Bestseller Joe Hill (Heart-Shaped Box, Locke & Key) is joined by Jason Ciaramella (C is for Cthulu) and Michael Walsh (The Silver Coin) to adapt his acclaimed short story in an expanded format with new twists and turns … including a special appearance by The Creep!” an official synopsis for the comic reads. “They tell the terrifying tale of a businessman whose commute is about to get a lot hairier when his train makes an unexpected stop at ‘Wolverton Station.'”

A synopsis for the original “Wolverton Station,” per its standalone Kindle release, reads as follows: “Saunders made his fortune as a hatchet man for hire and has come to England to do what he does best: chop down the little guys to clear the way for a global firm. But his train north just made an unexpected stop to let on some passengers straight out of the worst kind of fairy tale. Now he’s up to his ankles in blood and finding out just what it really means to live in a dog-eat-dog world…”

The short story was originally published in editor William Schafer’s 2011 collection Subterranean: Tales of Dark Fantasy 2. It was later republished in Hill’s own 2019 collection Full Throttle.
