Dune: House Harkonnen Promises Destruction in First Look at Final Issue

BOOM! Studios has revealed a first look inside the 12th and final issue of its comic book maxi-series Dune: House Harkonnen.

Dune: House Harkonnen #12 hits comic shops later this month from writers Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson, artist Michael Shelfer, colorist Patricio Delpeche, and letterer Ed Dukeshire. The issue features a main cover by Raymond Swanland, as well as a variant cover by Reiko Murakami. At this time, BOOM! has also shared a number of fully-lettered preview pages.

An official synopsis for Dune: House Harkonnen #12 reads as follows: “Interplanetary death and destruction gives way to a fateful romance that will change the universe forever, but defiance won’t be without its consequences. And before the story concludes, the Baron will find vengeance where he can, and Leto will say a painful goodbye…”

House Harkonnen isn’t the end of BOOM!’s Dune prequel saga

BOOM!’s Dune: House Harkonnen is based on Herbert and Anderson’s 2000 novel of the same name. House Harkonnen is the second and penultimate entry in the duo’s trilogy of Dune prequel novels — following Dune: House Atreides (1999) and preceding Dune: House Corrino (2001).

Herbert and Anderson previously teamed with BOOM! to adapt House Atreides in comic book form beginning in October 2020. The nearly-completed adaptation of House Harkonnen followed suit in January 2023.

In December 2023, the publisher announced that the writing duo would round out their trilogy with an adaptation of House Corrino. Due to launch this March, BOOM!’s Dune: House Corrino teams Herbert and Anderson with artist Simone Ragazzoni and colorist Dan Jackson. The aforementioned Dukeshire returns for lettering duties.

Dune: House Harkonnen #12 goes on sale Wednesday, January 24 from BOOM! Studios.
