BOOM! Studios has announced Dune: House Corrino, a new comic book limited series set in the universe of Frank Herbert’s Dune.
Set to launch in March 2024, Dune: House Corrino teams writers Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson with artist Simone Ragazzoni, colorist Dan Jackson, and letterer Ed Dukeshire. Issue #1 features a main cover by Raymond Swanland, as well as variant covers by Veronica Fish and Rebeca Puebla. The eight-issue Dune prequel series promises to unveil “a closer look at the rising conflict between beloved characters and bitter villains.”

Dune: House Corrino is based on the 2001 novel of the same name. Said novel is the third and final entry in Brian Herbert and Anderson’s “House Trilogy” of Dune prequels, following Dune: House Atreides (1999) and Dune: House Harkonnen (2000). BOOM! previously launched a comic book adaptation of House Atreides in 2020. An adaptation of House Harkonnen followed suit earlier this year. The publisher now seeks to round out the trilogy with House Corrino next year.
Alongside Anderson, Brian Herbert has authored no fewer than 17 novels as part of the expanded Dune universe — based on the original six Dune novels written by his late father, Frank Herbert.
What is Dune: House Corrino about?
BOOM!‘s official synopsis for the House Corrino series reads as follows: “House Corrino, once the deadliest House in the known universe as the Imperial family, set up the final pieces leading into the events of Dune and the fall of House Atreides … While conflicts escalate between the Fremen and House Harkonnen on Arrakis, the Bene Gesserit keep a close eye on Jessica’s pregnancy, and House Atreides takes part in the plan to seal Ix’s fate…”

The Dune franchise is expanding
Notably, BOOM!’s adaptation of House Corrino isn’t the only piece of Dune media launching in March 2024. That month also sees the theatrical release of director Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part Two, which adapts the second half of Frank Herbert’s original 1965 novel. The film acts as a direct follow-up to Villeneuve’s Dune, which released in 2021 and tackled the first half of the book.
A third film based on Frank Herbert’s second novel, Dune Messiah (1969), has not been green-lit, but is looking increasingly likely. Villeneuve recently confirmed that the threequel’s script is nearly finished. Meanwhile, Warner Bros. Discovery’s Max streaming service is producing a spin-off/prequel series titled Dune: Prophecy. Originally titled Dune: The Sisterhood, the series is based on Brian Herbert and Anderson’s 2012 novel Sisterhood of Dune. It is expected to premiere in late 2024.
