Marvel Comics has released an official trailer for Ultimate Black Panther, which presents a bold new vision for the nation of Wakanda.
In the trailer for February’s Ultimate Black Panther #1 by Bryan Hill and Stefano Caselli, Moon Knight‘s forces lay siege to Wakanda, forcing Earth-6160’s King T’Challa and his people to emerge from the shadows for the very first time. Fortunately, Black Panther has plenty of allies — including Shuri and Okoye, not to mention new versions of Storm and Erik Killmonger. Meanwhile, The Maker — the architect of the new Ultimate Universe — looms large over the conflict.

In addition to the trailer, Marvel has highlighted some of the covers that will adorn Ultimate Black Panther #1. In addition to Caselli’s main cover, the publisher has revealed variant covers by Caselli, Karen Darboe, Travel Foreman, and Ethan Young. (The issue will also feature a variant by BossLogic.) Moreover, Marvel has shared Caselli’s main cover for March’s Ultimate Black Panther #2.
What to expect from Ultimate Black Panther
“I was invigorated by this opportunity because in addition to my immense respect for Jonathan Hickman’s detailed storytelling, the idea of shepherding this bold new take on Black Panther in this event gives me a platform to do the kind of broad, epic, storytelling I’ve always wanted to do in comics,” series writer Hill explained.
“My influences range from the history of BLACK PANTHER comics to Ryan Coogler’s incredible work with the recent films, to Frank Herbert’s worldbuilding capacity of Dune,” he continued. “This is something people won’t expect, in the best of ways, and full credit to Marvel and editors Wil Moss and Michelle Marchese for bringing this creative possibility to me.”
Ultimate Black Panther is the second of three ongoing series launching in the first quarter of 2024 as part of Marvel’s new Ultimate Universe. Jonathan Hickman and Marco Checchetto’s Ultimate Spider-Man kicks things off in January. Peach Momoko’s Ultimate X-Men follows suit in March.
Ultimate Black Panther #1 goes on sale February 7, 2024 from Marvel Comics.
