AHOY Comics has announced The Wrong Earth: Dead Ringers, the next series in Tom Peyer and Jamal Igle’s multiversal Wrong Earth saga.
Following the cliffhanger ending of this month’s The Wrong Earth: We Could Be Heroes #2, Dead Ringers is due to launch in March 2024. The five-part series hails from writer Peyer, artist Igle, inker Juan Castro, and colorist Lee Loughridge. All five issues will feature covers by Igle, which pay homage to rock and hip-hop icons. Igle’s covers for Dead Ringers #1 and #2 are inspired by Public Enemy and Onxy, respectively. Issue #1 also features a variant cover by Felipe Sobreiro.

What is The Wrong Earth: Dead Ringers about?
An official synopsis for Dead Ringers reads as follows: “Dragonflyman and Stinger are finally back where they belong, on campy Earth-Alpha — but Earth-Omega’s gritty Dragonfly and Stinger II are now trapped there too. Will their vigilante violence infect the planet’s innocent, code-approved culture? And what happens when two heroes want to share Dragonflyman’s civilian identity, billionaire Richard Fame? The agonizing answers will shake Fortune City to its foundations in THE WRONG EARTH: DEAD RINGERS!”
“This one’s a bit different from previous installments, though we’re still playing with superhero tropes through the ages,” Peyer said. “But now we get to do it with fistfights in space, secret identity crises, and the whole rich history of lame attempts by middle-aged comics creators to come off as youthful. Come for the action, stay for the cringe!”
“It’s really amazing to me that we’ve come so far with this series,” Igle added. “When I was invited by Tom to join the series, I had no idea what to expect but we’ve built a rich, complex story over the last six years. I’m on for the ride as long as people want to see these guys mix it up.”
The Wrong Earth is a satirical superhero adventure
Peyer and Igle’s The Wrong Earth launched at AHOY in 2018. The original series ran for six issues through 2019. The comic centers on Dragonflyman and the Dragonfly — two similar looking but drastically different superheroes who swap places in the multiverse. A follow-up series, The Wrong Earth: Night and Day, subsequently ran for six issues from early to mid 2021. Additionally, five The Wrong Earth one-shots released throughout 2022.
This past October, AHOY launched the aforementioned We Could Be Heroes — a two-issue limited series celebrating The Wrong Earth’s fifth anniversary.
The Wrong Earth: Dead Ringers #1 goes on sale March 13, 2024 from AHOY Comics.
