Jackpot and Black Cat: Mary Jane Co-Headlines New Marvel Team-up Series

Marvel Comics has announced Jackpot and Black Cat, a new four-issue limited series starring Mary Jane Watson and Felicia Hardy.

Jackpot and Black Cat launches in March 2024 from writer Celeste Bronfman and artist Emilio Laiso. Bronfman previously wrote Mary Jane‘s first appearance as the superhero Jackpot in August’s Amazing Spider-Man #31 (LGY #925). She also penned MJ’s first solo Jackpot one-shot, which hits comic shops next month as part of Marvel‘s “Gang War” event. Meanwhile, Laiso has previously worked on comics like Guardians of the Galaxy and X-Men Unlimited.

What is Jackpot and Black Cat about?

An official synopsis for Jackpot and Black Cat #1 reads as follows: “Luck be the ladies! When someone blackmails Black Cat into a public and blatant crime spree, Jackpot comes to her aid! What classic Spider-Villain is behind the blackmail?! Someone with history with at least one of our titular heroines!”

Of course, Felicia and MJ are no strangers to team-ups at this point. The two previously joined forces in the Black Cat & Mary Jane: Beyond one-shot and the Mary Jane & Black Cat miniseries. According to Marvel, however, “[n]ow that Mary Jane is an up-and-coming super hero herself,” this dynamic duo will “take their bond to the next level on an action-packed adventure.” The publisher teases that “[t]ough choices and daring missions await as Mary Jane and Black Cat become entangled in a plot that’s brought the world to its knees.”

“MJ’s been a hero since day one, and I’m so excited to continue her journey as Jackpot — this time with Felicia Hardy by her side!” Bronfman said. “Opposites attract, and I’ve always loved the push and pull of their friendship. Expect them to butt heads through heists, betrayals, and the unexpected!”

Jackpot and Black Cat #1 goes on sale March 27, 2024 from Marvel Comics.
