Hey! Ho! Let’s Go: Spider-Punk Is Getting a New Series in 2024

Writer Cody Ziglar and artist Justin Mason are returning to Spider-Punk‘s world for a new four-issue limited series in 2024.

Per Marvel, the next chapter in the story of Earth-138’s Hobie Brown kicks off in February. Ziglar and Mason previously teamed for the character’s very first solo series, which ran for five issues in 2022. The duo’s new series promises to pit Spider-Punk and his friends against “a few familiar villains who want society to sing a different tune.”

What is Spider-Punk’s new series about?

An official synopsis for the new series’ debut issue reads as follows: “ENCORE! YOU WANTED MORE! In a world without Norman Osborn, Spider-Punk reigns! This ain’t no victory lap though — as Hobie Brown and team try to rebuild society, Justin Hammer & Doctor Otto Octavius have other plans … like introducing the world to the Spider-Slaying Sentinels!”

“Y’all, it feels so friggin’ cool to dive back into Earth-138 with Justin and explore the world of Hobie and the Spider-band even more!” Ziglar said. “There’s some new additions to the Spider-Punk roster, some real dope villains, and some other cool stuff I don’t wanna spoil … but absolutely cannot wait for folks! And yes, there’ll 100% be a Spider-Punk Playlist Vol. 2!”

Created by Dan Slott and Olivier Coipel, Hobart “Hobie” Brown/Spider-Punk first appeared in 2014’s Amazing Spider-Man #10. He is a multiversal variant of Earth-616’s Hobie Brown, also known as the original Prowler. Needless to say, things played out quite differently for Hobie on Earth-138.

In addition to getting his first solo comic last year, Spider-Punk made his big-screen debut in the acclaimed animated feature Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse earlier this year. The film reimagined Hobie as a British punk (the character is from New York in the comics), with Academy Award-winning actor Daniel Kaluuya stepping into the role.

Spider-Punk #1 goes on sale in February 2024 from Marvel Comics.
