The Marvel Comics title Edge of Spider-Verse returns for a new four-issue limited series early next year.
Marvel has announced that its next Edge of Spider-Verse relaunch kicks of in February 2024. The debut issue teams writers Collin Kelly and Jackson Lanzing with artist Travel Foreman for a story starring Weapon VIII, a brand-new character that combines the Spider-Man and X-Men mythoi. 2024’s Edge of Spider-Verse #1 also teams writer Nilah Magruder with artist Eric Gapstur for a story starring Spider-Byte, a character who first appeared in 2018 and made her big-screen debut in the animated film Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse earlier this year.

“We all know who Weapon X is, but WHO IS WEAPON VIII?! Find out in a story from writing duo Collin Kelly and Jackson Lanzing and artist Travel Foreman! In this universe, when Weapon X escapes from his facility, they call on their greatest previous success to get him back,” an official synopsis for Edge of Spider-Verse #1 reads.
“You may not have realized that the digital avatar Spider-Character who made her big screen debut in Across the Spider-Verse came from the comics first! She’s back in comics now and you don’t want to miss her in an all-new adventure by writer Nilah Magruder and artist Eric Gapstur,” it continues. “The start of a saga that sets up the next evolution of SPIDER-VERSAL stories!”
The history of Edge of Spider-Verse
Edge of Spider-Verse originally launched as a five-issue limited series in 2014 as part of the larger “Spider-Verse” event. The anthology-style series offers a glimpse into various different realities across the Marvel multiverse. The initial 2014 incarnation is notable for introducing now-fan-favorite characters like Spider-Gwen and Peni Parker.
Marvel released a second five-issue Edge of Spider-Verse series in 2022. Most recently, the publisher relaunched Edge of Spider-Verse as a four-issue limited series just this year. That particular incarnation ran from May to July.
Edge of Spider-Verse #1 goes on sale February 21, 2024 from Marvel Comics.
