Marvel Comics has revealed all of the covers that will grace Jonathan Hickman and Valerio Schiti‘s G.O.D.S. #1. The publisher has also released new preview pages from the debut issue.
Due for release this October, G.O.D.S. #1 is written by Hickman, illustrated by Schiti, colored by Marte Gracia, and lettered by VC’s Travis Lanham. Mateus Manhanini serves as the new series’ main cover artist. Additionally, issue #1 features variant covers by Ejikure, Mahmud Asrar and Matthew Wilson, Peach Momoko, and Skottie Young. Meanwhile, six new, fully-lettered preview pages from the issue depict a Babylon Event — that is, a “rare occurrence that has the potential to upend the cosmic pantheon!”

What is Marvel’s G.O.D.S. about?
Hickman and Schiti G.O.D.S. centers on two new Marvel characters named Wyn and Aiko, who are “devoted members of The-Powers-That-Be and The-Natural-Order-of-Things, opposing factions that serve the omnipotent forces of the Marvel Universe.” An official synopsis for issue #1 reads as follows: “The infinite détente between THE-NATURAL-ORDER-OF-THINGS and THE-POWERS-THAT-BE nears an end. Old acquaintances are reunited during a Babylon Event. The Lion of Wolves throws the worst parties. Don’t look under the table. There’s a John Wilkes Booth penny on the ground.”
“When I came back to Marvel a few years ago, I wrote two series bibles. The first was HOUSE OF X and the other one was G.O.D.S.,” Hickman said. “To say that I’m excited to finally be able to share this story with everyone is a massive understatement. G.O.D.S. takes place in its own special corner of the Marvel Universe — in the cracks that lie at the intersection of science and magic — and revisits some characters and concepts that we’ve reimagined for a more modern, continuity-driven audience.”
Marvel executive editor Tom Brevoort compared G.O.D.S. to two other prominent fantasy comics: Neil Gaiman’s The Sandman and Brian K. Vaughan’s Saga. “This really sits on the axis of Saga and Sandman,” Brevoort said. “There are some certain stylistic similarities. It’s definitely a different flavor than what we do at Marvel.”
G.O.D.S. #1 goes on sale Wednesday, October 4 from Marvel Comics.
