Jennifer Walters Returns To Her Roots in Marvel’s New She-Hulk Comic

Jennifer Walters Returns To Her Roots in New She-Hulk Comic

Next year’s She-Hulk series on Disney+ is already confirmed to be drawing from several of her previous comic runs. Now, it looks like Jennifer Walters will revert to her old-school disposition as well. This January, Marvel will launch a new ongoing She-Hulk series that finds Jen returning to her legal career and facing new threats along the way. You can view covers for the first issue by Jen Bartel and Adam Hughes below.

Unlike her famous cousin, Bruce Banner, Jennifer retained her personality and intellect as the She-Hulk. But after the events of Civil War II, Jen’s temperament began to more closely resemble that of the classic Hulk. Although Jennifer could revert back to her human form, her alter ego became another just mindless rage monster.

Writer Rainbow Rowell and artist Rogê Antônio are the creative team who are restoring Jen back to the best version of herself. She will reopen her own practice and reunite with some old friends. Marvel also notes that Jen will embark “down a road she’s never traveled, one that will shake up her life and possibly the whole Marvel Universe.”

Rowell also shared a statement about her appreciation for She-Hulk and the chance to write her.

“She-Hulk is the best of the best. She’s smart, she’s funny—and she’s really and truly heroic (all that and she has the best hair in comics). Jen has always been at the top of my Marvel wishlist, and I’m thrilled to be writing her next chapter.”

“I’m very excited and feel honored to be a part of this exciting new phase of She-Hulk,” added Antônio. “Working with Rainbow Rowell has been inspiring and it’s amazing how she lets her passion for the character shine through on every page. I hope the fans have as much fun reading as I’m having illustrating these new adventures.”

She-Hulk #1 hits comic shops on January 12, 2022.
