In the Marvel Universe, Mary Jane Watson and Felicia Hardy/Black Cat have never really been friends. However, they have been united by their mutual love for Peter Parker a.k.a. Spider-Man. There have also been times when Black Cat has helped Peter save MJ. Now, it’s time for Mary Jane to return the favor.
Via ComicBook, Marvel has announced that the two heroines will headline a new one-shot special. Former Black Cat writer and current Amazing Spider-Man co-writer, Jed MacKay, is providing the script for Mary Jane & Black Cat: Beyond #1. C.F. Villa will provide the interior art.
“After finishing up the Black Cat ongoing with Giant-Sized Black Cat, I was sad to see Felicia Hardy go,” said Mackay. “But as it turned out, she wasn’t done with either artist C.F. Villa or myself! It’s been great fun to jump back into the world of Black Cat, and pairing her with (of all people) Mary Jane Watson in a wild, one-crazy-night adventure through the criminal underbelly of NYC has been a blast! “

Marvel also provided the official synopsis for the one-shot:
“Black Cat has been kidnapped, and the only person who can save her is…MARY JANE WATSON?!
Mary Jane has never liked Felicia Hardy, and now she has to save her life?! But remember, this is the Black Cat we’re talking about. Things are never quite what they seem.”
Mary Jane and Black Cat: Beyond #1 will hit comic book stores on Wednesday, January 19, 2022.
