Wonder Woman Gets Inducted Into the Comic-Con Character Hall of Fame

The celebration of Wonder Woman’s 80th anniversary continues next month with a virtual ceremony that will honor her impact across all avenues of popular culture. Comic-Con International has revealed plans to induct the Amazon warrior into its Character Hall of Fame.

Comic-Con’s Character Hall of Fame launched in 2019 with Batman as its first inductee to celebrate the Dark Knight’s own 80-year milestone. Last year, Pac-Man was also inducted in honor of the video game hero’s 40th anniversary. Wonder Woman will formally join their ranks on Thursday, October 21. Additionally, the ceremony will be livestreamed on the Comic-Con Museum’s official YouTube channel.

DC also has several commemorative comics hitting stores later this year to celebrate eight decades of Wonder Woman. Leading the charge is today’s Wonderful Women of the World, a new anthology that highlights the accomplishments of 23 different women from all walks of life, including Beyoncé, Serena Williams, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Greta Thunberg, and also Malala Yousafzai. Next up, Wonder Woman: 80 Years of the Amazon Warrior will recount some of Diana’s greatest battles in a hardcover collection spanning more than 400 pages.

Some of the industry’s “greatest storytellers” are also teaming up for Wonder Woman 80th Anniversary 100-Page Super Spectacular on October 5. This “collectible keepsake” features several original stories, plus an art montage by Yanick Paquette and colorist Nathan Fairbairn. On October 19, DC will launch Nubia and the Amazons, which picks up after the events of Infinite Frontier. The new series from co-writers Vita Ayla and Stephanie Williams and artist Alitha Martinez will follow Nubia’s reign as queen of Themyscira.

Finally, November 16 will bring the release of Wonder Woman Historia: The Amazons from Kelly Sue DeConnick and Phil Jiminez. The book is the first in a new trilogy that will explore the history of Diana’s race. The second and third books will also hit stores in spring 2022 and fall 2022, respectively.

Warner Bros. and DC are also plotting tons of other celebratory events for Wonder Woman over the next few months. That includes multiple fashion lines, a special episode of Teen Titans Go!, and a new statue in Burbank, California. Check out the full list here.
