Marvel Previews the Relaunched X-Men Series With a New Trailer

There hasn’t been an official X-Men team since Jonathan Hickman overhauled mutants’ place in the Marvel food chain with his House of X/Powers of X event in 2019. But now, Cyclops and Marvel Girl are getting the band back together to combat an array of emerging threats. Ahead of the release of an all-new X-Men #1 next month, Marvel has premiered a new motion comic trailer for the hotly-anticipated first issue. Check it out for yourself below.

For the last two years, mutants have been pooling their efforts into establishing the island nation of Krakoa as not only a safe haven for mutants everywhere, but also as a new global superpower that offers to share its advanced resources with humans in exchange for recognizing its sovereignty. However, recent events have compelled Scott Summers and Jean Grey to re-enter the hero business. And with a team that includes Laura Kinney’s Wolverine, Sunfire, Rogue, Polaris, and Synch, their enemies probably don’t stand much of a chance.

The new series comes from writer Gerry Duggan and artist Pepe Larraz. Neither creator is a stranger to the mutants’ latest exploits. Duggan has been scripting Marvel’s Marauders since 2019. Meanwhile, Larraz has been around since the very beginning as the artist on House of X.

“It’s my privilege and honor to be reteamed with Pepe Larraz as we throw beautiful and deadly threats at the X-Men beginning in July,” said Duggan. “Mutants have saved themselves, and are now going to save the world. Krakoa will grow roots in the capitol of the world, New York City. And the inaugural year will star Cyclops, Marvel Girl, Rogue, Wolverine, Synch, Sunfire and Polaris. The threats to Earth will come fast and hit hard. And every page from Pepe and Marte will blow your hair back. See you in July.”

X-Men #1 hits comic shops on July 7.
