DC Delivers a New Murder Mystery With The Joker Presents: A Puzzlebox

The Clown Prince of Crime is at the center of yet another whodunit, and he’s also got Gotham’s finest hanging on his every word. Now, DC has announced The Joker Presents: A Puzzlebox, a new seven-issue miniseries

After the GCPD discovers a mysterious corpse and a magical box, they race to find out who the culprit is. However, it could be any one of the city’s most dangerous criminals, all of whom are locked in a jail cell. Regardless, the Joker volunteers to talk, and he begins telling a series of “seemingly unconnected stories” about his fellow prisoners. But over time, readers will also see how each of these stories is part of a much bigger scheme. Judging by some of the early artwork, it looks like the Joker will be spending a lot of time inside a GCPD interrogation room, much to the aggravation of Commissioner Gordon and Harvey Bullock.

The Joker Presents: A Puzzlebox comes from writer Matthew Rosenberg and artist Jesús Merino. However, Merino isn’t the only one contributing artwork to the new series. Subsequent issues will also feature the talents of Keron Grant, Dani, Domo Stanton, Juni Ba, Vanesa Del Rey, Ricardo Ortiz, Christopher Mooneyham, and more. Plus, DC Universe Infinite subscribers will be able to read digital chapters of the series starting on June 7. These chapters also come packed with a “Director’s Cut Bonus Box,” which contains extra clues about the Joker’s plans.

DC will release The Joker Presents: A Puzzlebox #1 in comic shops on August 3. You can also check out the first issue’s cover and four pages of interior artwork below.
