DC Revives the Justice League Unlimited Universe In New Limited Series

Justice League Unlimited went off the air in 2006, but there’s some good news for anyone who has missed the show. DC has just announced plans to resurrect the series’ universe later this year. Starting this May, new adventures starring the DC Universe’s premiere superheroes will unfold in the pages of Justice League Infinity.

Over the course of seven issues, fans will be able to revisit their favorite Justice League members as they meet new allies and face new threats. Additionally, the series’ creators will broaden the scope to include characters from across the DC Multiverse. To craft these new stories, DC turned to veterans from the original Justice League Unlimited series. Producer and character designer James Tucker is co-writing Infinity alongside J.M. DeMatteis, who previously worked on seven episodes of the show. Ethen Beavers is the artist on the series, with Francis Manapul as the cover artist for the first issue.

DC is releasing Justice League Infinity as a digital-first title, with print issues hitting comic book stores later on. In the first chapter, the heroes will encounter a strange being (Amazo/The Android, judging by some of the early artwork) who is “wandering the universe searching for its true purpose.” However, its quest will lead it to a discovery that changes “not just our universe, but many.” The premiere issue will also set up a war for Apokolips’ throne, which makes its way to Earth and finds the Justice League caught right in the middle.

Justice League Infinity #1 hits digital platforms on May 13. The series’ first print issue will hit comic book stores on July 6.
