Exclusive Preview: Chris Claremont Anniversary Special #1

Nearly five decades ago, writer Chris Claremont began working for Marvel Comics. In particular, Claremont’s 17-year run on Uncanny X-Men redefined Marvel’s mutants and made them superstars. Claremont also co-created The New Mutants, and several other heroes and villains. Next week, Marvel is celebrating Claremont’s lasting contribution to the company with a special one-shot.

Chris Claremont Anniversary Special #1 will reunite Claremont with artists Bill Sienkiewicz and Sean Chen. Brett Booth, Diego Olortegui, and several other artists will also contribute pages to an all-new story. The Shadow King is back, and it’s going to take several of Claremont’s favorite heroes to take him down. In particular, Dani Moonstar, Invisible Woman, Binary (Carol Danvers), Gambit, and young Storm!

In Superhero Hype’s exclusive preview for Chris Claremont Anniversary Special #1, Claremont and Sienkiewicz catch up with Dani. Years ago, Dani was chosen by her winged stallion, Brightwind, to become a Valkyrie. Brightwind’s choice also saved Dani’s life. Now, Hela, the goddess of the dead, is calling in that debt. Regardless of Dani’s wishes, she’s about to embark on a life-or-death struggle across time and space. Additionally, it appears that the Shadow King isn’t the only threat from the past to return. Dark Phoenix is also back…unless this is just a fever dream for Dani.
