Bill and Ted Are Doomed In New Comic Book Series

Later this summer, Bill & Ted Face the Music will bring Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves’ iconic duo back together on the big screen. But this fall, Dark Horse Comics is bringing Bill & Ted back in the comic book realm. Via Newsarama, Dark Horse will publish a four-issue miniseries called Bill & Ted Are Doomed. It’s a direct sequel to Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey, while also a lead-in to the new movie.

Evan Dorkin will co-write the miniseries with Ed Solomon, the co-creator and co-writer of the Bill & Ted franchise. Roger Langridge will provide the art. Additionally, Dark Horse released a synopsis for the series.

“There’s tension in the band and worry at home. Bill and Ted’s obsession with writing the one song to bring peace to the world is affecting both their playing and their relationships with their families,” reads Dark Horse’s description of the limited series. “The band is losing fans and the future isn’t shaping up as they were led to believe it would.

Desperate for a solution, Bill and Ted burst in to announce their great idea to revive the band’s fortunes. A world tour to spread the love – and the rock, and the love of the rock – to the world.”

Dorkin also reflected on his history of writing Bill & Ted comics for Marvel back in the ’90s.

“My first full-time job in comics was adapting Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey in 1991,” wrote Dorkin. “Now, in 2020, I’m writing a sequel — that’s also a prequel — with the input and blessing of Ed Solomon, and the artwork of Roger Langridge, one of my all-time favorite cartoonists. It’s been a total blast to work on, and I truly hope the fans have a most excellent time reading it.”

Bill & Ted Are Doomed #1 will hit stores on Wednesday, September 9. Bill and Ted Face the Music will be in theaters on August 14.
