WarnerMedia Announces Official Launch Date for HBO Max

A new competitor is ready to enter the race to lead the growing streaming service market. Today, WarnerMedia has revealed the official debut date for its streaming service, HBO Max. The service will launch on May 27 at the monthly price of $14.99.

“Our No. 1 goal is having extraordinary content for everyone in the family, and the HBO Max programming mix we are so excited to unveil on May 27th will bear that out,” chairman of Warner Media Entertainment and Direct-To-Consumer, Bob Greenblatt said in a statement. “Even in the midst of this unprecedented pandemic, the all-star teams behind every aspect of HBO Max will deliver a platform and a robust slate of content that is varied, of the highest quality, and second to none.”

Apart from all the programming from HBO (Game of Thrones and Westworld, just to name a couple), the new streaming service will feature tons of content to meet everyone’s taste with fan-favorite shows like Friends, The Big Bang Theory, or South Park. Our readers may enjoy DC movies like Joker, Suicide Squad, Wonder Woman, or sci-fi like The Matrix, and much more.

HBO Max will also feature a bunch of new original comics-based series. The streaming service announced that J.J. Abrams will executive produce a Justice League Dark series through his Bad Robot banner. Also, Arrow producer Greg Berlanti is developing a Green Lantern inspired series. James Wan is producing an Aquaman animated miniseries for the platform. Plus, Rosario Dawson will take the lead role for the HBO Max pilot DMZ, a series based on the Vertigo comic book series by Brian Wood and Riccardo Burchielli, while Doom Patrol Season 2 will run on both HBO Max and DC Universe.
