Marvel and SiriusXM Team Up For New Podcasts

Just over a year into its initial deal with Stitcher, Marvel is now teaming up with SiriusXM to create more superhero podcasts. Via The Hollywood Reporter, Marvel’s new deal includes “scripted and unscripted shows,” as well as “live events,” broadcast through both SiriusXM and Pandora. The first Marvel/SirusXM podcast will hit in 2020.

Wolverine, Hawkeye, Black Widow and Star-Lord will headline four separate series; which will also run ten episodes each. Additionally, the heroes will team up in a fifth podcast series.  The unscripted podcasts will look at “Marvel’s long history through a modern-day lens and include talk shows and series dedicated to popular Marvel franchises.” There’s also another podcast that will focus on interviews with celebrities, based around the Marvel universe.

“Powerful stories are read, seen and heard,”  said Marvel Entertainment president Dan Buckley. “And we believe audio is the next natural step to bring the Marvel Universe to fans around the world. Storytelling has always been at the heart of Marvel’s success…SiriusXM and Pandora have the right platform and expertise to bring Marvel’s…stories to listeners in a whole new way. We are excited to introduce an impressive roster of programming…And we can’t wait to share more details in the weeks and months to come.”

Marvel and SirusXM previously produced the Marvel’s 80th: The Road to Marvel Comics #1000 audio channel earlier this year. Regardless of this deal, Marvel will continue to work with Stitcher on its own shows. Sticher is producing an adaptation of Kurt Busiek and Alex Ross’ Marvels. That show also features an all-star cast, including the Method Man. It’s set to debut later this fall on Sitcher.
