Exclusive Preview: Second Coming #3

Earlier this year, Mark Russell and Richard Pace’s superhero religious satire, Second Coming, found a new home at Ahoy Comics. Leonard Kirk joined the creative team as an additional artist, with Amanda Conner as the cover artist. Now, ahead of next week’s third issue of the series, Russell gave Superhero Hype a quick recap of the series to date.

“On Earth for the first time in two thousand years, Christ returns to live with Sunstar, the world’s most powerful superhero. The two are starting to work out an uneasy balance between their two philosophies on dealing with evil,” said Russell. “Issue 3 finds Sunstar having to abandon Jesus to deal with a family emergency. Left to his own devices, Jesus runs afoul of fundamentalists.”

In Superhero Hype’s exclusive preview for Second Coming #3, Jesus and Sunstar enjoy a bowling game before leaving to deal with a somewhat ineffectual supervillain. While Jesus favors giving the kid a second chance, Sunstar is gonna need some convincing.

Here’s the official description from Ahoy Comics: “Searching for his missing grandmother, Sunstar is forced to confront the shortcomings of his super-powers. Jesus, left on his own for the day, runs afoul of street preachers. Also: the usual assortment of AHOY prose stories and extra features.”
