Method Man Joins Stitcher’s Marvels Podcast As Ben Urich

Back in 1994, writer Kurt Busiek and artist Alex Ross teamed up for Marvels, a grounded look at life in the Marvel Universe. This year marks the 25th anniversary of Marvels. To celebrate, Marvel is teaming up with Stitcher for a new adaptation of the story.

Via Comic Book Resources, the ten episode Marvels podcast will feature an all-star cast, including Luke Cage alum and rap superstar Method Man, who will portray Ben Urich.

Seth Barrish stars in the series as Phil Sheldon, an all-too human photographer for the Daily Bugle. AnnaSophia Robb co-stars as Marica Hardesty, with Louisa Krause as Sue Storm/Invisible Girl, Jake Hart as Ben Grimm/the Thing, Ehad Berisha as Johnny Storm/Human Torch, Ethan Peck as Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic, Gabriel Ortega as Charlie Martinez, and Teo Rapp-Olsson as Peter Parker/Spider-Man.

“Building off our award-winning momentum of Marvel’s Wolverine: The Long Night and its sequel Marvel’s Wolverine: The Lost Trail, the New Media team is thrilled to continue to push the envelope of Super Hero storytelling via the scripted podcast medium,” said Marvel’s Shane Rahmani. “We are passionate about the space and feel we’ve brought the right cast, story, and intrigue in this latest installment.”

The story of Marvels focuses on Phil Sheldon. Over the course of four decades, he witnesses several key moments within the Marvel Universe. He sees the birth of the Golden Age Human Torch, the rise of Spider-Man, and the Fantastic Four’s battle with Galactus. Phil also befriends Spidey’s doomed girlfriend, Gwen Stacy. At the same time, Phil also has to confront his own inner prejudices against mutants.

Marvels will debut exclusively on Stitcher Premium this fall. It will hit other podcast platforms in 2020.
