While the Black Widow movie currently in production may depict Natasha Romanoff’s origin as a spy. However, Marvel’s next Black Widow comic will put its own spin on Natasha’s backstory.
Marvel.com has announced Web of Black Widow, a five-issue miniseries by Jody Houser and artist Stephen Mooney. The story will revolve around Natasha’s past as a present day threat attempts to use Black Widow’s history against her.
According to Marvel’s description, Web of Black Widow will be “a great introduction to new readers and an thrilling confirmation to fans in the know why Black Widow is one of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. The new series finds a mysterious figure exploiting the hero’s past. And in response, the Widow may have to go off the grid. Who can she trust in this web of deceit? And more importantly – can her friends trust her?”

Marvel has also released the first cover for the series, which appears to depict Natasha in one of her older costumes. You can check out the full image below. Newsarama also had another cover, which suggests Hawkeye and Daredevil will appear in the story. Both men played big roles in Natasha’s transformation into a hero.
Web of Black Widow #1 will hit comic book stores in September.
