Exclusive Preview: X-Men: Grand Design – X-Tinction #1

Two years ago, writer and artist Ed Piskor was given the opportunity to remix the X-Men’s complicated history into a coherent story. The result was X-Men: Grand Design, a series of miniseries that re-contextualized the entire saga. Next week, Piskor returns with X-Men: Grand Design – X-Tinction, a two-issue miniseries that will wrap up the ’80s and ’90s era.

Forge’s device stripped Storm of her powers at the end of X-Men: Grand Design – Second Genesis. Meanwhile, Cyclops was happily married to Madelyne Pryor. Cyclops and Madelyne were also blissfully unaware that she was a clone of Cyclops’ dead lover, Jean Grey. Madelyne’s creator, Mr. Sinister, had long term plans for Madelyne and her baby. Regardless, these were relatively happy times for the X-Men. However, things are about to take a turn for the worse.

In Superhero Hype’s exclusive preview for X-Men: Grand Design – X-Tinction #1, Cyclops and Sinster are rocked by the same revelation: Jean Grey is alive. As a result Cyclops is going to make a tragic mistake that will lead to an Inferno. As for Sinister, he unleashes his Marauders for the infamous Mutant Massacre. That was an event that greatly changed the X-Men. Meanwhile, Madelyne’s rash decision threatens her own life and the life of her child.
