DC & IDW Announce Batman/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III Crossover

Earlier this week, Warner Bros. announced a Batman vs. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles animated movie. But that’s not the first time the Dark Knight and the TMNT have crossed paths. DC and IDW have previously partnered up for a few crossovers between the heroes of two worlds, and now, they’re about to collide again

Via DC, James Tynion IV and artist Freddie E. Williams II will reunite for Batman/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III, a six-issue miniseries. Tynion and Williams were the creative team for the first two crossovers as well. While Batman has a reputation for not playing well with others, his relationship with the TMNT is unique. He actually gets along with the Turtles, and their mentor, Splinter. Of course, there was an initial battle between the heroes. But since then, Batman and the TMNT have shared a strong bond despite their outward differences.

In the first crossover, Batman and the Turtles fought Shredder and the Foot Clan in Gotham City. For the second crossover, they confronted Bane in the Turtles’ NYC. Now, the inter-dimensional warlord Krang will step up as the threat in the third crossover. Somehow, Krang has acquired the most dangerous technology in the DC Universe, and the entire multiverse is at risk.

TMNT co-creator Kevin Eastman will provide covers for the crossover miniseries. While speaking with DC.com, Eastman shared his excitement for the opportunity.

“I am so incredibly proud of the series so far,” said Eastman. “Batman/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles has easily been one of my biggest personal geek-out moments ever, and from what I’ve seen of series III, my advice to fans is to buckle up, things are about to get seriously crazy! Forever grateful that James and Freddie invited me into their backyard to play for a bit.”

Batman/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III #1 will be released on Wednesday, May 1. Are you excited to see Batman and the Turtles team up again? Let us know in the comment section below!
