Marvel Announces Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge Miniseries

Star Wars fans are eagerly awaiting the launch of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, a theme park attraction opening on two coasts later this year. To hold fans over until then, Marvel has announced a new tie-in comic book series of the same name. The comic will run for five issues and begin publishing in April.

According to StarWars.com, the Galaxy’s Edge comic explores the history of Black Spire Outpost, the seedy village where the attractions are set. Located on the planet Batuu in the Outer Rim, the outpost is described as a haven for shady characters looking to make their way in the galaxy by any means necessary.

Ethan Sacks, who recently wrote a Mace Windu story for Marvel’s Age of Republic event, is scripting the new series. Will Sliney is handling the artwork. Sliney previously illustrated comics that adapted Solo: A Star Wars Story. He also penciled a one-shot starring Woody Harrelson’s character, Tobias Beckett.

Sacks couldn’t reveal much about the storyline of Galaxy’s Edge, but he promised that it will feature “intertwined stories over several eras — including a Han Solo and Chewbacca adventure.” He also teased the introduction of Dok-Ondar, an antiquities collector who operates out of Black Spire Outpost. “There’s a reason Dok-Ondar’s name ripples far and wide in the Star Wars universe,” said Sacks. “He’s a mysterious Ithorian who is the proprietor of the most notorious antiquities shop in the galaxy. And every item has a story behind it. Some more dangerous to listen to than others.”

Meanwhile, both attractions will open at Disneyland Resort in California and Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Florida later this year. The official Star Wars website has also released a concept design variant cover featuring Dok-Ondar himself.
